You've probably heard the buzzwords used to describe them; cloud apps, web system, web apps. Essentially they are all the same thing.

In almost all cases they are a natural progression from clients trying to manage critical business data on spreadsheets or via clunky, manual processes.

Web applications can be something as simple as a hook-up to an external data source or something fully responsive like a Progressive Web Application.

A PWA is a hybrid of a mobile application and a traditional website that incorporates the best features of both. It is a website developed using web technologies but offers the convenience of a mobile application including push notifications.

PWAs have been slowly building support over the last several years. Some big name companies have implemented PWAs as part of their distribution strategy or even for strategic functional offerings. We’re talking the likes of Twitter, Starbucks, Google, etc.

Some of our recent web application projects include a mediation booking portal that helps law firms book mediations across several parties and an application that allows mortgage advisors out in the field to log each meeting they have. This gets any mortgage applications into their system quickly that can then be tracked and moved throughout the whole process to completion. Fees are logged throughout the process and management can view summary financials at any time.

We’ve even built a support ticket dashboard for ourselves as all of the off the shelf solutions that we looked at didn’t quite achieve what we needed. It allows clients to log in and register a support ticket and provides the means for any of the to reply to tickets wherever they are working from. As it’s all in one place we can all see what’s happening quickly and not override each other’s work. We are currently expanding it into a time logging system for clients on our website care plans. It also allows for clients to book and pay for support and set up direct debits.
