It’s one small word change and only one extra colour in our branding design {red} but it’s a major reflection of what our core business is and what we hope it to be more of.
It reflects the majority of work we have carried out in the last year and where we see our business growing.
After carrying out some research with clients and non-clients alike, most people thought our main business activity was always mainly social media management. Yes, we’ve had some great results in this area and will continue to do so but it’s just one tiny part of our expertise.
Our main core areas of business will be continue to be more bespoke website design and development, software solutions and eccommerce.
In our commitment to continue to offer a high-quality, professional service we are also delighted to welcome Gary Vance as our new Technical Director.
You can find out about him on our 'About Us' page. Many people on Teesside will already know Gary through his own web development and software solutions business, Clear Chaos, which he founded in 2004.
Gary said, "Sharon and I have worked successfully together on numerous projects since we first met, and we continued this relationship into The Social Gene when she and Declan set it up almost two years ago. We’ve been talking about joining forces for a while. Alongside professional respect for one another we all really work well together and get on and complement each other’s skills set.
I’ve wanted for a long time to be able to offer Clear Chaos clients more support and growth strategy and this joining of forces will enable that.
It makes sense for our companies to merge together and grow as one."
We’re on a mission to become one of the best web design and software development companies to grow out of Teesside and the North East.
My own role will continue to be that of orchestrating overall operational activities and working alongside Gary on projects.
We’ll also continue spreading our wings into Yorkshire with Declan developing business out of Leeds.
Declan adds, "I've watched Gary and Sharon { my Mum } work together for years, well before I had even imagined a career in digital marketing. They work fabulously together just like we all do with Sarah, our creative partner. I'm excited to see what joining forces brings to our business as I know it give us an even stronger offering. I seriously believe that together we can grow to be one of the best web development agencies in the region".
We have clients across the UK now and it’s the right time to evolve further.
Over the next few months you will see some changes. Mainly in administrative communications for existing clients. We’re aiming for a seamless process but are happy to answer any questions along the way as things change.
You’ll probably hardly notice as we’ll still be on a mission to be a group of people with communication at heart.
Gary will join The Digital Gene full time on April 1st but for now we will be starting the process of merging our businesses together.
We're also growing a team of wonderful people - we call them our gene-iuses - and we'll be sharing more news about that very soon.
For me, I think it's important to pivot your plans for your business as it develops and grows. We've talked and worked with many people who find change really scary but if I've learned anything over the years it's that scary is where the good stuff happens.
